Can I purchase my own cable modem instead of renting one from SecTV?
Yes, as long as the cable modem is DOCSIS compliant. For customers using our 1-way service, there is an additional requirement, which is that the modem also has to have a Telco return (a built-in telephone modem). The only company which produced DOCSIS cable modems with a Telco return is Motorola (models SB2100D and SB3100D), but they have stopped producing those modems.
