Can I purchase fresh products instead of fresh-frozen products?
At this time, we only ship fresh-frozen salmon, halibut, and sablefish (black cod). In fact, you may want to be aware that fresh-frozen fish often is fresher than most other fish labeled and marketed as “fresh.” Fish marketed as “fresh” in supermarkets often spend long periods of time in transit by air and truck from distant docks to your local food market. It is common for fish sold as “fresh” at retail to be up to 10-14 days old following harvest. Often it was frozen when received and then “slacked” or “thawed out” in the back room, only to be marketed as “fresh.” Our kosher certified fish is vacuum-packed and flash-frozen the same day it reaches our plant.
