Can I produce color accurate proofs on my inkjet printer that are good predictors of what will actually get printed on press?
With inkjet proofing using the actual press stock is not possible so it is safe to say that the proofing stocks are going to be different to the paper stock used on press and thus the white points are going to be different. Often, the spectral curves of the proofing stocks show a higher or brighter whiteness than the press stocks but you must be careful that this is true for the entire spectral curve. If, however, a proofing paper is selected that is truly whiter than the proofing stock, then by using the Simulate paper color of job feature in ColorPro the RIP will put a tint down on the proofing stock to simulate the press stock along with the image content. This produces a color accurate proof of the future press sheet provided all of the variables within the entire system are process controlled.
