Can I prepare for a career in engineering at a liberal arts college?
Yes. How? By enrolling in the Dual Degree Program sponsored by Emory College and Georgia Institute of Technology. This program normally requires about five years of study. Students spend three years at Emory College, then two years at Georgia Tech. During the three years at Emory College, students must complete the Emory College General Education Requirements, course requirements for an Emory College major, and a pre-engineering sequence of courses including five semesters of mathematics, two semesters of calculus-based physics, and one semester of chemistry as follows: a) Mathematics 111, 112, 211, 212, 221 b) Physics 151, 152 c) Chemistry 141 (Chemical Engineering requires 142 with lab) The 4-2 program allows students to complete their undergraduate degree at Emory, then pursue a masters of science degree in mechanical engineering or electrical and computer engineering at Georgia Tech.
