Can I plug in my Marshall practice amp to just a cabinet?

you can do it, provided the ohms match up so that you don’t overload the capacity of the amp….. but you aren’t going to get the wall of sound your looking for and will prematurely kill your amp….1 cab won’t have that much effect but 2 or more will. you don’t need that much to get the sound you’re looking for…i’ve been playing live for over 20 years in venues from 50 seats to 5000 seats and i’ve always run a 50 watt marshall with one 12 and a 60 watt peavey with two 12’s and it is all i’ve ever needed. i experimented with running each through a marshall 4-12 cab and also with running them both through 1 4-12 cab and it never really made a big difference in the sound. running two smaller amps in stereo now is what i have found to get the best sound either live on stage or at home…..
