Can I play a DVD in my PC Server on the MediaMVP?
• (Work is being done to make this happen.) • No, you can not watch a DVD via the MediaMVP (without first converting it to a standard MPEG2 file). • The MediaMVP cannot directly play DVD’s (including the .VOB files on a hard disk or in a mounted ISO image). This is probably due to copyright issues. This can be done with several third party utilities or with the Plugin/DVD2MPEG plugin (which merely is a front-end to some of these utilities). • There is a (warranty-voiding) hardware modification discussed at www.shspvr.com to add TOSLINK/SPDIF support (Optical/SPDIF) so you can play digital-Audio Streamed MP3’s over your Stereo via an Optical or SPDIF cable. See this by jksmurf TOSLINK/SPDIF hack and the SHSPVR forum thread that spawned it. Note that this is not AC3 or PCM audio, which is discussed in a separate threa
