Can i plant Snowdrops and Crocuses seeds now in december?
For best results, snowdrops need to be planted ‘in the green,’ ie, when they’ve just finished flowering in Spring but still have all their old green leaves on. Then the goodness from the leaves dies down into the bulbs and feeds them so they will grow well next year. If you have some old bulbs, yes you could try planting them but results won’t be so good as if you can beg a green clump off a friend in Spring. Split up the clump into separate bulbs and plant them about 3 inches apart, they’ll soon naturalise and thicken up into a lovely show. Crocus corms should really have been planted a month or two ago, but give them a go since you’ve got them. They may be a bit late this year, or even not flower, but just leave them alone for the next year undisturbed and they’ll flower OK after that.
