Can i place my own bid on the item as a fail-safe?
Hello Yes, you can do that. However, that defeats the purpose of sniping – waiting until last few seconds to bid so as not to draw attention to the item you’re interested in. I guess you could snipe the item manually, but that kind of defeats the purpose of automated sniping – saving time. Maybe you can find something on eBay that you would like to have but is not a must-have and schedule a snipe for it. If all goes well, then your future snipes should also go well. There have been some members sign-up to hidbid and for whatever reason, we cannot execute snipes for them. This does not happen often, but it does happen. One thing you should do before scheduling any snipe – go to that item listing page, enter in a bid and click the “Place Bid” button just as if you are going to place a bid right then, to make sure the bid confirmation page is shown next.
