We got our brand new self cleaning oven, mother did not read the instructions and left the racks in, they were totally destroyed-scorched beyond recognition and we had to get a new set, NOT cheap. I shudder to think what it would do to ordinary aluminum! It might even melt it, whatever the self cleaning cycle does, it is fierce! Just scrub it like crazy and line with tin foil if you are really worried it is not going to be clean enough. Good luck cooking for that many people!
