Can I pay the Insurance Excess / Security Deposit in Cash or Travelers Cheques?

A. In most cases the answer is no. For security reasons almost all depots require that the deposit be paid via a charge to a Credit Card. This is to try to guard against the scenario of someone coming along to rent the motorhome, paying a cash deposit, and then driving off with the motorhome and never returning. There are a few depots, in Italy and Portugal, where there are no Credit Card processing facilities, and the deposit has to be paid in Cash. You will be informed if this is the case when you book.
