You can pay a monthly subscription fee to download music for your iPod. However, this is sort of risky because such music services usually have DRM (digital rights management) on them and the iPod may not be able to read it. Also, if you stop paying the monthly fees, the music you download from that site will be rendered useless until you pay again. However, from what I hear, Apple may introduce iTunes 8 in September which will offer monthly subscription plans so you don’t have to pay 99 cents to own a song, but a bunch of music for a certain price and period that are SURE to run on your iPod.
