No, the HoustonPBS Spelling Bee is affiliated with the Scripps National Spelling Bee. To be eligible to compete, spellers must attend a school that is officially enrolled with the Scripps National Spelling Bee. If your school is not enrolled, ask your school to start a spelling bee program. The school enrollment fee is $99. There is no cost to the students. Details for home-schools are here.
