Can I paint, stain, or water seal CorrectDeck?

You will never have to apply a water sealer to CorrectDeck. Doing so will not yield the positive results you would get when applying it to natural wood products and it will eliminate the opportunity for applying a stain in the future since most water sealers contain a wax-like component that will prevent other coatings from adhering properly. Once standard CorrectDeck has weathered for at least two seasons, a good quality solid or semi transparent oil or latex stain can be applied. Do not attempt this process on new material as results will not be acceptable. Because CorrectDeck has a limited absorption ability, you should never apply more than one coat of product – the second coat will remain on the surface and blotches or tackiness will remain for extended periods of time. Always work the wet edge of the stain to avoid lap lines. It is best to work down the full length of a few boards rather than across the width of many boards to avoid this problem.
