You are working against yourself. Alcohol makes you more depressed. Chronic lack of sleep can make you more depressed — is your “party lifestyle” getting in the way of sleep? Do you get any exercise? Twenty minutes a day of walking will help your depression. Take the medication. It is not crap. It helps your brain help itself. Medication may take a few weeks. The psychiatrist may want to try you on something different to see if it works. It is hard to know what will work for any given person. You are doing the right thing to get help for your anxiety and depression. You need to be patient and may need to rein in your lifestyle for a few months until you pull yourself out of the pit.
