Can I order the livescan software by itself and install it on my computer?

The software is available by itself, although it is of limited utility without an ID 1000 scanner. You may consider purchase of an additional copy of the software if you frequently add additional information to the EFT record at a location other than the location where the ID 1000 resides.

Livescan is typically sold as a complete “FBI IAFIS Approved” system. By this I mean, you should run the software on a dedicated computer and it must work with the scanner (ID 1000 is not the only option – there are many) and any other peripherals needed. There is a lot that goes into livescan, so it is important to discuss your requirements with an expert to ensure you purchase a system you can actually use. Every state has its own requirements and there are many different channels through which you may or may not be able to submit livescan transactions.
