Can I order contact lenses online with my glasses prescription if I know my base curve and diameter?
No, legally you cannot do that. You should have a scrip for eyeglasses and contacts…you can’t use one to get the other. Even though you know your base curve and diameter, you still need to be fitted for whatever particular contacts you are interested in, and your eye doctor needs to try the contacts out on you, to see if that certain brand is even the best kind for you. Your contacts prescription may not even be the same as your glasses…in many cases, the scrip for contacts does have to be adjusted some, so it won’t always match your glasses scrip. Anywhere that you attempt to order contacts from is required by law to verify your scrip with your eye doctor. Once they do that and see that you don’t have a scrip for contacts, they will not send them out to you. It shouldn’t cost you much to go back to your eye doctor for a contact fitting, if you’ve already had an eye exam recently.
