Your boyfriend will have to leave the UK when the visa expires by no later than the last full day. I don’t think it makes any difference if you get married or not. However once back in his own country he can make an application for a 2 year settlement visa as a spouse or a fiance dependant on whether you get married or not. The two visas are slightly different. The main difference being that on a fiance visa you would be expected to marry within a certain period of time. He would have to provide prof that you have remained in contact throughout the period since you first met. and that the relationship is on going, through letters, phone conversations and email. He would also have to supply prof that you both could support yourselves financially as he would have no recourse to public funds. There are other documents he would have to provide.
