Can I mark or select the phrase for editing at a later stage during the time of recording?

Yes, you can do it by pressing F9. The current phrase would be marked as Todo, and Obi would create a new one next to it in the same section for recording. For more information on marking the structure while recording, see Create the Structure while Recording.
