Can I make throwing daggers/axes/shruikens, etc.?
No. Dagorhir allows two types of thrown weapons – javelins and rocks. Any thrown weapons would have to be built to similar proportions to avoid injury. By the time all is said and done, any thrown weapon would end up being a rock. So, it’d be used as a rock and do damage like a rock. Why not allow more deadly thrown weapons? Mostly it’s playability – the weapons are disgustingly effective, cheap to make (you use scrap foam for rocks), and are easily concealable. If thrown weapons like this were allowed, they would own the field and there would be no reason to own anything but a shield and throwing weapons. There are also other serious issues such as determining whether the haft or the head of a thrown axe hit. Because of issues like this, a lot of rules are included for playability … for example, a person can’t tell if an arrow has been “broken” (it doesn’t have a top and bottom), so the rules don’t allow them to be broken. Bows, however, can be destroyed with a successful strike and
