Can I make meatballs in the slow cooker?

Yes!! That’s the only way I make meatballs. I usually use prego sauce and pour it in the slow cooker, turn it on and then I mix the hamburger with any meatball mix you like or some breads crumbs an egg and some salt and pepper. I brown the meatballs over the stove then add them to the slow cooker. But you don’t have too. If you are using store bought meatballs they will hold up fine. If you are making your own i’m not sure how they will hold up I am assuming they will be fine as long you have the egg mixed in they should stay together. Good luck hope this helped.

Yes, you most certainly can! That is exactly how I do my Sauce with Meatballs and they come out so very tender and delicious! However, I would hold off on putting the pasta in until you come home. (You can cook it ahead of time) but if you add in the pasta before you leave for work, it will be all broken apart when you come home. If you put in uncooked pasta, your sauce has to be quite thin to have enough liquid to cook the pasta and it will soak up alot of it. I tested that theory long ago and was not happy with the dish AT ALL. So, here’s what I would do: Throw in your uncooked sauce, meatballs and set on low……………go to work and then when you come home, throw in your cooked pasta and it should heat thoroughly in about 1/2 hr. Hope this helps you to enjoy a wonderful, home cooked meal almost ready when you come home from a long days work, I love my Crock Pot too! Have a GREAT day!

You can put raw meatballs and sauce in the slow cooker in the morning and have it be completely cooked by dinner. Don’t know about putting in the pasta though, it seems like it would turn to mush by evening. Fortunately, pasta only takes 15 minutes or less to cook the regular way…

Hi There, I would think the meat balls would fall apart in the slow cooker unless you seal them well in a pan before you put them in. I cook my mince for chilli etc in the slow cooker but I probablu wouldnt do meatballs.

Even on low in the crockpot for 8 hrs, they would be mush. You can make your meat mixture a day ahead of when you want to cook them and put that in the fridge overnight.
