Can I make a two layer cake using foil pie pans?

I need to make a 2 layer cake and all i have is 2 foil 8in pie pans. Would that be okay? I have done this before, and yes, it will work. However, if you like a neat cake and don’t want it to be lopsided, I would suggest using a knife to cut around the edge so that it’s even up-and-down like a cake rather than a pie. Also, if the cake sank or rose or is uneven, you should also cut a very thin layer off the top (being very careful) so the layers will be neat and even. Hope that helps. Edit: And yes, like someone else said, trimming it will give you a smaller cake. But it’ll still taste good! Also, another tip is to use parchment paper on the pans, or greasing with butter and flouring the pans so the cake comes out better. In case you didn’t know this already. Or if you’d like to buy some nice pie pans, there is a huge selection of all sorts on eBay. Look at these great pie pans.
