I do this for a living… Don’t use plasticine. It’s got potential to be too hard and you’ll have to push too hard on your little one’s hand! Get yourself to an art shop and get some modelling clay (if you’re in the UK, which I think you are because you spelled it Mould not Mold! – go to Early Learning Centre and get a tub of the grey air drying clay). Pat it out flat and then place your little one’s hand on the clay and press gently down, making sure it’s even pressure all over. Make sure the hand come out straight so not to spoil the indentation. Make a cardboard wall whatever shape you like and place around the imprint – this will serve as a mould wall (think cookie cutters, but on a larger scale). Pour plaster into your mould and leave to set. Peel the clay away from the cast (you might get another couple of copies if you do this gently) Clean off any clay from the cast with warm water. Leave to thouroughly dry. Promise me that you’ll not get your daughter to put their hand in plas
