Hasbro has revealed its new Ouija Board this week, a fetching pink number, aimed at tween girls. The board claims to “Ask the questions girls want to know,” like “Who will call you next? Will you be famous? Who wants to trade places with you?” Mothers are, predictably, up in arms about the mystifying oracle. The website Alpha Mummy has deemed it “bad toy of the week”: “I am appalled,” writes one member of the website’s “team.” Why? “Because it’s about six different kinds of wrong.” Okay, name THREE, I thought, noticing the chipper question on the top of the page, “Would you be able to kill your child?” and wondering when women will stop carping about girls and pink and boys and fun.
