Can I keep zizi and bamboo plants in water?

Answer Nancy, Good news and bad news. The bamboo that you see in stores in water is one specific type of bamboo that in fact is not bamboo but Dracaena sanderiana. If your bamboo is that type of bamboo then yes you can put it i a glass carafe and it will do fine. If it is bamboo that has been growing in your yard or garden it is a totally different type of bamboo and it would not like growing in water. You are welcome to send me a picture of your bamboo and I can try to attempt to identify it for you. Your Zamioculcas Zamiifolia should only be watered when it is very dry, it would not survive in a vase of water. Keep it in a pot of soil and it will be happy.
