Can I keep 2 Teddy Bear Hamsters together?

0

Syrian (Teddy Bear) hamsters are solitary and VERY territorial. They are extremely aggressive to each other, whether same sex or opposite. They will fight to the death, if allowed to stay together. NEVER EVER EVER keep Syrian or Chinese hamsters of the same sex together after about 8-10 weeks of age, and opposite sex after 4 weeks. I have owned and fostered Syrian hamsters for over 25 years, and I have gotten them from pet stores or owners who didn’t realize they needed to be separated, and some of them came to me with the most horrible injuries and scars: missing eyes, teeth, limbs, ears, noses, lips, the list goes on. They will be sweet as can be to humans if properly tamed, but not with each other, not even their littermates. Either get another cage, give one hamster away, or be prepared for a bloody mess to clean up very soon.
