Can I interchange the manual transmissions found on a V6 vehicle with that found on a 4 cylinder equipped vehicle?
No. If you own a 1992-1994 T/T, you will have to obtain a transaxle from a car with a matching engine. Transaxles from a four-cylinder car will not match up to a V6 T/T, and vice-versa. The MTX4 was selected because of its increased strength over the MTX3 used in the four-cylinders. The internal parts are very similar, but the bellhousing patterns on the transaxles are different. If you own a four-cylinder, you should be able to use a transaxle from any other four-cylinder Tempo/Topaz. As previously mentioned, however, the gear ratios differ from year to year. Find out what vehicle your replacement transaxle is coming from as the gearing could be substantially different!
