Can I instead have visitors pay directly into the organizing committees PayPal account?

Yes. You do not have to use our credit card processing system, but can instead have your classmates make payments directly into your PayPal account. In this case, you do not pay the ClassQUEST processing fee. (However, you may incur PayPal fees.) In order to do this you must purchase a Premuim site and register your PayPal credentials with ClassQUEST. There is a $90 per year charge for a Premium subscription.
