Can I install Windows XP Professional SP2 on a different computer while still running it on another?
Not legally. System software from Microsoft is only licensed for use on the computer it was originally installed on. You could buy an additional license for XP Professional for the other computer if you like, or if you can find someone who has a software install disk for Windows XP Home Edition, you could do a recovery using their set of install disks as long as you know your original Windows XP “Product Key”. You need this in order to activate your copy of Windows with Microsoft. This is legal to do as long as you use the identical operating system software and have your original Product Key which should be affixed to the processor somewhere. If you try to do what you’re thinking, the operating system will likely shutdown after 30 days. Good luck!
