Can I install ceramic tile on OSB floors?

You can not install ceramic tile directly on OSB. It is weak, flexes entirely too much and will not adhere well to the mortar. You must install a cement backerboard over the OSB. It is a good idea to spread a thin layer of thinset underneath the backerboard, then screw or nail it down with ring shank underlayment nails. I usually use a 1/4″ Hardibacker cement board. It is easy to use and very strong. If you have any questions on installation, you can e-mail.
