Can I install an SE-R (SR20DE) engine in my 1.6L Sentra?

Yes! This is very possible, however it can be expensive and very difficult. Not only do you have to switch out the engine, but the gauge cluster, transmission, axles, wiring harness, etc. all have to go as well. Even though the two cars may look nearly identical from the outside they are very different mechanically, so unless you have connections or know how to do the work yourself it may be easier just to buy an SR20DE powered vehicle. Additionally, those of you that already modified your 1.6L should take into consideration few of those aftermarket parts will fit the SR20DE. For more information read Bryant Marroquin’s article about installing the SR20DE in a B13. Charles Johnson’s “The Nismo Project” chronicles the steps behind installing an SR20DE in a B12.
