To add preamp outputs to the factory headunit, refer to How to add preamp outputs to the factory head unit in a Tundra (Courtesy of TundraSolutions.com member tundra-gearhead) Some amplifiers and powered subwoofers accept high-level (speaker line) inputs. To connect this type of unit you will need to tap into your existing speaker wires to provide an input signal to the powered subwoofer or amplifier. If your amplifier or powered subwoofer does not accept high-level inputs, you will need add preamp outputs to your factory head unit or tap into your existing speaker wires and connect a line-level converter. A line-level converter converts the high-level output from the factory amplifier or headunit to a low-level RCA phono jack output.
