You can install a DVD burner in one of the Dell Dimension 2400’s two external 5.25-inch drive bays. If you already have two optical drives installed, you will have to remove one of them before performing the upgrade. The Dell Dimension 2400 is compatible with optical drives that connect to the motherboard using a 40-pin IDE/ATA cable.
