Can I have surgey to correct tubular breasts on the NHS?
From what you’ve described your breasts don’t sound like they’re tubular breasts – these tend to literally look like tubes, are small and are narrow at the chest. Search for ‘Normal Breast Gallery’. First of all it cannot be confirmed that you have tubular breasts until you try to breastfeed as these breasts don’t have enough glandular tissue, they’d not know they were tubular until then. So until then you will NOT be able to get plastic surgery as it is for cosmetic reasons alone. If you do have tubular breasts then this may be classed as an abnormality, but it depends on your local authority – they are strict about breast surgery, and even if tubular breasts it would still be cosmetic, you would want breast surgery because you’re unhappy with your breasts, not because you need the surgery.
