Can I have some info on the Greek Gods: Hephaestus and Aphrodite?
Hephaestus: -God of the forges -roman god equivalent – Vulcan -offspring of Hera and Zeus -symbols are a smith’s hammer, an anvil and a pair of tongs, although sometimes he is portrayed holding an axe. Myth: Apparently Hera was so disgusted by his appearance she threw him off mount Olympus and he has been crippled since. Aphrodite: -Goddess of love -roman goddess equivalent – Venus -Egyptian goddess equivalent – Hathor -also known as Cytherea (Lady of Cythera) and Cypris (Lady of Cyprus) after the two places, Cythera and Cyprus, which claimed her birth. -Myrtles, doves, sparrows, and swans are sacred to her. Myth: Because of her beauty other gods feared that jealousy would interrupt the peace among them and lead to war, and so Zeus married her to Hephaestus, who was not viewed as a threat. Her unhappiness in marriage caused her to frequently seek out the companionship of her lover Ares.
