You’re really better off getting the big tank first THEN the Oscar. It makes far more sense to do it that way round. The Oscars in the store will always be available, they’re not going to randomly become extinct or something! Get the big tank, then get the Oscars. Juvenile Oscars grow FAST, about 1″ a month in their first year, keeping them in a tank too small will cause them extreme stress and they’re liable to cause themselves water quality problems too as they’re so messy. Big tank first, fish later. FYI an 80 gallon tank will only be suitable for ONE adult oscar.
