Yes, you can however its limited to where AT&T CallVantage with 911 service is available. When you sign up for the service you will be asked both what state you reside in and what state you want your phone number area code to be located in. You will still be able to place and receive calls at your home, but callers will assume the calls are coming from and going to the location defined by the area code and prefix you chose. You can also sign up for a Simple ReachSM Number, which can be in any area code where AT&T CallVantage service is offered. Simple Reach Numbers can save friends and family money by giving them a phone number that’s a local call to them that they can use to call you.
