Can I grow an orange tree in Corvallis, Oregon?

My landlord has had one in a half wine barrel for 10 years. He also has a lemon tree in another. He harvests about 30 oranges a year. Tree is kept in greenhouse when it is below freezing. It is wheel out and set on asphalt rest of the year. Tree needs water and regular input of fertilizer. I have had an orange tree myself in a pot for 9 years. Blooms must be protected from frost as do the young fruit. The blooms you see this year will be next season’s fruit. With enough sun and drainage you could plant a tree in ground. You need to cover it in a cold frame at the very least. Look for cold hardy (to 25 degrees) varieties.
