Can I go to Kefalonia for the day?
Kefalonia is close to Zakynthos and can be seen from the beach of Alykes on a clear day. This island can be visited by either taking an organised tour excursion which includes a coach trip of the island and can be booked via the many tour offices in Alykes & Alykanas or Zakynthos Town. If you’re more adventurous you can do it yourself by driving or taking a taxi to the port of St Nikolas in Skinari which is on the north coast about 20 minutes from Alykes and then taking the ferry. The ferryboat departs daily during the summer season leaving Skinari at 9:45 and returning around 19:15 and takes about 75 minutes.
