It is possible for unauthorised building work, which was commenced on or after November 1985 to be regularised. You will need to make an application for a Regularisation Certificate. Please see our Works Carried out Without an Application web page for further advice on the process including our Customer Guide.

It is now possible for unauthorised building work, which was commenced on or after October 1973 to be regularised. To apply for a Regularistion certificate you should fill in the appropriate form, and submit it along with the prescribed fee to the Council. Following a site inspection a certificate may be issued if the work appears satisfactory, or if the work does not appear to comply you will be advised of what the contraventions are. Once these have been satisfactorily addressed a Regularisation certificate may be issued.
