Yes you can. It may take more then one visit to get your hair as light as you want it, depending on how dark your hair is and how light you want to go. If you want to “be a blonde,” then you will need 3-5 visits several weeks apart to get it really light without damage. If you just want some highlights, 1-2 visits will do.
