Can I get my 4.8L Vortec Engine to put 350HP to the wheels?
I agree with the above poster, the 4.3 is a better option. But all hope is not lost, there are some things you can do to get a little more horsepower: If this is just a track vehicle or your state / province doesn’t have emissions testing, remove the cat. If you do have emissions, go to dual cats and make a true dual exhaust. Now that you can get the exhaust out, you need to get the air in. There are two ways, a K&N Cold Air Intake (Or an ebay one with a sheet metal heat shield you fabricate yourself and a K&N filter) or you can “swiss” your air box: drill some holes in the bottom and sides, put some screen mesh in them to keep bugs and big dirt out. Do not put any holes facing the engine. I did this to my 1998 S-10 Blazer 4WD and noticed a HUGE improvement. However, that does make the car significantly louder. Because there isn’t a huge aftermarket for the 4.8, finding intake manifolds probably isn’t going to happen. Sorry. So without a turbo, you’re kinda SOL. If you ever do get into
