Can I get funding for a college course on working family tax credits?

Hi, I am in my final year of an Access Course. When I started I was working 16 hours a week and claiming both Child and Working tax credits, I got the entire course funded by the government. If it is your first level 2 course you will get full funding, if it is your first level 3 course and you are under 25 (at date of enrolment) you will get full funding. Otherwise, you will only be entitled to full funding if you earn less than £15,000 a year. Even if you earn over this amount, you will only be expected to pay a small percentage of the total cost. I have only ever known one person on my course pay the full amount – and that was because her husband was on around £80,000 a year! The best thing you can do is to speak to the College directly as they will know more, they will also have a Learner Support Fund which could help you cover the difference if you are asked to pay for fees. Good luck!
