Florida law provides for separate maintenance (support), child support, and determinations of primary residential custody unconnected with a dissolution of marriage. The same criteria are applicable as in a dissolution of marriage proceeding. However, there is no six month residency requirement like what would be necessary to file for a dissolution of marriage.
