Can i get a us work permit?
There is no catch-all type visa, aside from a green card, that would permit you to free lance around the U.S. working for whomever you wanted (if they hired you). Temporary work permits are employer specific. Even Elton John has a petitioner for whom he can work, and no one else. Of course, someone like Elton John could have multiple petitioners. And that would be the task that you would be faced with, i.e., every employer you want to work for would have to submit a petition to CIS before you could legally work. The petition would have to be approved prior to the start of employment, and they normally take a while to be adjudicated. Aside from a green card, there really isn’t any visa type that would help you accomplish your goal.
Not going to happen. There is no such thing as a work permit for a tourist to work their way across the United States. The only work permits/visa is through a qualified employer, who has to certify with the US Dept of Labor, and then petition for foreign workers, when the qualified employer can not find qualified USCs to do the work. With unemployment going up, this is getting harder and harder for companies to qualify. If you enter the United States on a tourist visa or VWP without the necessary fund to support yourself, and prove that you intend to return to your un-relinquished foreign residence, you will be turned away from the United States.
