You do not want to file a Renewal/Modification (RM) to apply for a Vanity call sign. If your application is dismissed because the Vanity call that you are requesting is not available or has been issued to someone else, this application will not renew your current call sign. When applying for a Vanity call sign, you need to select Modification (MD) as your purpose. If your Vanity application is granted, then a ten-year license is issued and a renewal of your old call sign is no longer required.
