Can I fax documents generated by DTM for iSeries?
DTM for iSeries allows you to do faxing in 2 different ways. One option is to do faxing just like in the OV/400 days. You have an AS/400-based fax product that monitors an outputqueue. As soon as a spooled file is created, the fax tool picks it up and faxes it. In this scenario it’ll be no longer OV/400 that generates but DTM for iSeries. No changes are required to the documents, nor applications, nor fax configuration. Another approach is to use a Lotus Domino based fax solution. These tools typically fax a Notes document. Using the RSLDTMDOC command DTM for iSeries can merge a document and store the result as a Notes document in a Notes database. Some changes may be required to the documents (to retrieve the faxnumber from a DB2/400 file during the merge), and a change is probably necessary to the application to replace a PRTDOC by a RSLDTMDOC.
