Can I exchange references between EndNote and RefWorks?

Yes. To import EndNote citations into RefWorks, use the RefWorks References Menu > Import EndNote V8+ Database (for EndNote versions 8 and later) to directly import your citations from an EndNote database. Instructions are available on the RefWorks website (for vresions 7 and earlier, you must export the citations out of EndNote into an interim file. Both methods have limits (in terms of MB) on how many references can be imported at a time. To import RefWorks citations – where selected ones or your entire Refworks library – into EndNote, you need to export out the citations and then import them into EndNote using the RIS import filter. Detailed instructions are available on the EndNote website. The exchange process may not import the content of all data fields, particularly customized content, and it will not transfer attached PDFs or other files. You will have to manage these manually.
