Can i dye black hair red without using bleach?

You can’t, not without stripping the black from your hair professionally first…a very difficult and damaging process best left in the hands of someone who is expert at corrective color. A certain amount of “lifting” will then be necessary to lighten the level of your hair before that red color can be applied. This can only be done with bleach, but if a corrective colorist does it, the amount of lift can be controlled and cause a minimal amount of damage. If you try to do it yourself without the correct knowledge of the chemicals and developer, you will probably damage your hair beyond repair and it will either all break off or you will have to cut it off. It will also not take any new color that is applied. Black is the most difficult of all hair colors to reverse and causes the most long-term damage. It is much more harmful to your hair than bleach.
