Can i drive my car with a broken brake line?

0

when I had a broken brake line, I had to push it all the way to the floor, and the “Brake” alarm light came on…every time I hit the brake pedal it was splashing brake fluid all over the street. My reservoir was soon empty of brake fluid, and if you hit the pedal with low brake fluid you can damage the master brake cylinder. If its like what i had (but it doesn’t sound as bad- either you have a different problem, or a different system), then I would only drive if you can take entirely back streets, drive only at idle speed (5mph or less), and have your hand on the emergency brake at all times, preferably late at night when nobody else is out. To me, though, it seems like you might just be low on brake fluid…at least when my car has acted like your is acting, that was the problem. If there isn’t brake fluid leaking onto the ground, it *probably* isn’t the line. Take a look at the reservoir, add some brake fluid if its low, see if that works.
