Can I drive legally in the USA with an Australian Provisional (P1) license?
Yes you can. You can hire cars over here too which you can’t do on a Provisional license in Australia. Go figure! You don’t need an international driving permit to drive in the US on an Australian license. You won’t need to display your P-plates because they don’t use them over here. You also only need to obey local speed limits, as they don’t limit the speed of newbie driver’s here – which means you can do up to 90 miles an hr on a freeway (around 145km) Woo-hoo! As for the Zero BAC I’m not sure… you might want to contact the local police department (in US) to find that out. Since it’s written on your license if you do get pulled over by a road block then I guess you could be in trouble if they wanted to be a*holes, however there is no real advantage to them booking you since you don’t live here. Also worth noting that they do not have Provisional licenses or anything equivalent here in the US, driver’s go straight from Learner’s permit to fully licensed, however the legal drinking
